Edgy, Fresh, Warm & Authentic
Marissa (she/her) is a lifelong SF Bay Area native who has navigated the beauty industry as a student, educator, and entrepreneur since 2003. In 2012, she was invited to be the first ever in-house hairstylist on the Facebook Campus in Menlo Park. She balanced her role as a vendor on site with running her own hair studio in Santa Clara County. When the Pandemic of 2020 hit, she shuttered her studio and like so many of us had to, diversified to survive. Tapping into her roots and acting background, Marissa spent the next year doing what would have taken several years to do in a non-pandemic world. Studying with voice acting schools from different parts of the country allowed Marissa to learn everything from the foundational basics to the nuanced structure of very specific and different genres.
Professionally, Marissa prides herself on her ability to adapt and operate from a solution-based mindset. She enjoys the range of energy within Commercial, In Show Narration, Promo, Telephony, and E-learning voiceover. She feels strongly about using her skills to advocate for social justice. As a biracial Chinese woman, she is especially passionate about racial disparity as well as LGBTQA+ alliance and intersectional female empowerment.
Personally, she enjoys spending time with her husband and she is 100% that Cat-Lady. She is a connoisseur of pop culture and knows an alarming amount of factoids about the Real Housewives that she is considering pouring into a podcast. She also enjoys cooking and reading and loves a good Sunday Brunch with friends.
